Praline is a form of confection containing, at a minimum, culinary nuts – usually almonds, pecans and hazelnuts – and sugar. It is commonly consumed on its own but can also be the key ingredient of delicious recipes.
Praline is a french word and is pronunced "praa·leen".
Praline may have originally been inspired in France by the cook of Marshal du Plessis-Praslin (1602–1675), with the word praline deriving from the name Praslin.
Traditionaly, french pralines are pink and made with almonds and caramelized pink sugar. Hazelnuts and pecans nuts can also be used in the confection.
